Publication Chambers Europe 2018 shows research results for the legal market.
Capital Legal Services is once again among the leaders on the Russian legal market. The expert rating confirmed the company’s federal status in our key legal practice areas: corporate and M&A, public-private partnership, real estate and construction, as well as leader status on the St. Petersburg market in general business law.
Compared to last year, Capital Legal Services improved its position on the PPP project market, as duly noted by the researchers. The PPP practice took the top position among Russian companies (Band 2), with only two foreign firms being ahead (Band 1) who are recognized global leaders in PPP. According to the researchers, the firm is distinguished by its pragmatic approach and detailed attention to all issues. When working on a project, the lawyers “understand the specific interests of each side and know what risks are involved” and are “very meticulous when it comes to detail.”
The Corporate/M&A practice confirmed its rating in Band 3. Based on results of client interviews, the researchers note the team’s focus on the client and the project: “They look at projects from a practical point of view, delivering solutions made for us.”
The dynamic growth of the Real Estate and Construction practice headed by Partner Elena Stepanova, along with their unique expertise in land issues, large-scale projects implemented with support from the team’s lawyers – all this allowed the team to rise in the rating into Band 3. The rating describes them as a “well-reputed team” and “active in Moscow and the Russian regions.” Clients note their “strong analytical skills”: “If we need a detailed response, we would go to them.”
Capital Legal Services has been a leader on the St. Petersburg market for many years, being among the top three national law firms, as once again confirmed by the research. The publication describes it as a “St. Petersburg firm with a strong corporate advisory practice.”
Managing Partner Vladislav Zabrodin was for the second year in a row recognized Eminent Practitioner in general business law. He is described as a “very prominent figure” on the St. Petersburg legal market and a lawyer “often advising international corporates.”
Partner Pavel Karpunin, who heads the PPP practice and coordinates work of the Corporate/M&A practice, was honored with an individual PPP rating (Band 3) and in general business law (Band 4).
Pavel Karpunin has vast experience in supporting federal PPP projects, as well as significant projects in the Russian regions. According to a client opinion quoted by the publication, Pavel “tries to solve problems in the right way and reduce legal risks.”
The rating once again included Partner Elena Stepanova who heads the Real Estate and Construction practice among Russia’s top lawyers in real estate and construction, confirming her individual rating (Band 4).
In the researchers’ opinion, Elena possesses “notable expertise in land due diligence and assists clients with greenfield construction and turnkey projects. Sheisalsoactiveintheretailsector.” Clients note her “availability and willingness to help” and describe her as a lawyer who “can apply both theoretical and practical knowledge” and “offer solutions.”
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the interesting, complex and significant projects in which we were able to apply all of our experience accrued over almost 20 years of work. Us being recognized by a global rating is success for all of us which we want to share with you,” comments Managing Partner Vladislav Zabrodin on the research results.
