On February 21, 2017, at the Finland House an event took place that is held regularly at the FRCC – Morning Coffee for members of the Finnish-Russian Chamber of Commerce.

On this occasion, the meeting was dedicated to the role and liability of the customs representative. The event was divided into two parts. First, a speaker from Baltkomplekt, a customs representative company, spoke on the main difficulties that customs representatives encounter in today’s realities of customs processing and logistics.

In the second part of the event, Anastasya Kuzmina, Senior Associate at Capital Legal Services, spoke about the legal issues tied to liability of customs representatives, namely, in light of their interaction with declarants and customs authorities. Issues of collecting damages from customs representatives, as well as of companies being held liable for an administrative offence for non-declaration or unreliable declaration, turned out to be quite vital for business representatives that encounter such problems in the course of customs control both during declaration and after release of the goods.
