On June 28, 2017, the round table “Customs assessment and risk management system: current management practice, prospects subject to the Customs Code of the Eurasian Economic Union” was held at the St. Petersburg International Business Association, in the course of which experts in customs law shared their opinions in relation to some of the innovations.

Due to adoption of the new Customs Code, business entities have many questions, and the main one concerns expectations pertaining to any substantial changes in the work of customs authorities and their cooperation with business. Anastasia Kuzmina, Senior Associate of the tax group at Capital Legal Services, told the participants of the round table about difficulties and problems implied by the risks management system being used by the customs authorities within the framework of customs supervision, as well as about prospects of changes in this area of customs work.

The topics mentioned within the framework of the round table covered some stirring business aspects; however, Anastasia believes that judging by the comments from the participants, it is early to speak about cardinal change, considering that regulations at the national level will be amended.
