The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) is one of the largest non-government organizations operating toward the protection of the environment throughout the world for over 40 years. Each year the WWF implements over 1,200 environmental projects, thus drawing attention of millions of people to crucial environmental problems and their solutions.
The WWF mission is to prevent the intensifying degradation of the natural environment of the Planet and to achieve harmony between people and nature. The main goal is to preserve the Earth’s biological diversity.The first WWF projects in Russia were initiated as early as 1988, and in 1994 the first representative office of the WWF was opened in Russia. Since then the WWF has successfully completed over 150 field projects in 40 different regions of Russia and has contributed over 30 million dollars towards conserving and multiplying the natural riches of this country. In 2004 the WWF was recognized as a Russian national organization.
