Conference on Antitrust Regulation in Russia

Capital Legal Services has acted as sponsor of the III Annual Conference on Antitrust Regulation in Russia organized by the Vedomosti newspaper and “Competition Support” Non-Commercial Partnership, with support from the Federal Antitrust Service of Russia (FAS). Yevgeny Voevodin, Partner of Capital Legal Services, acted as moderator at a session that was one of the most informative topic wise and was dedicated to the key events of 2011 and their impact on antitrust regulation.

The Russian antitrust legislation and the practice of its enforcement are on the threshold of comprehensive changes. In the near future a “third antitrust package,” which as intended by the FAS of Russia is designed to create a more transparent antitrust regulation system for businesses, will be adopted. The FAS of Russia has already started to act more aggressively in the course of implementing antitrust policy, more actively applying market economic analysis tools and performing unscheduled inspections of major participants.

Representatives of the FAS of Russia and antitrust authorities in other countries, as well as leading lawyers and economists from Russia and abroad specializing in competition law issues, have exchanged opinions in regard to antitrust regulation issues which are relevant both on national and global scale.
